10 Years of mote evolution: from WeC to Waspmote

noticias WASP 3

It has been more than 10 years since the first mote (WeC) was released by the Berkeley University. Since then multiple platforms have been developed by research centers, universities and companies.

The Sensors & Instrumentation Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) based in London, UK, talks inside the study titled Power Management Technologies to Enable Remote and Wireless Sensing” about the different mote families and its evolution during the last 10 years.

It is a big pleasure for Libelium to see how Waspmote is said as the natural evolution of the mote platforms as it counts not only with a bunch of different modules (ZigBee, Bluetooth, GPRS, GPS) but also with an código abierto compilation environment and programming libraries and multiple sensor boards what makes it really easy for developers and researchers to start creating wireless sensor networks from the first day.
